Friends of SJL

FoSJL

Who we are

Friends of Sir John Lawes School is a volunteer group of parents and staff working together to:

  • Raise extra funds for the school through social events and other activities
  • Encourage parents to become more involved with the school community
  • Promote greater links between home and school

The funds we raise help provide new facilities and resources which cannot be catered for in the existing school budget. These can be as small as a canopy to give children all-weather shelter, or as large as an outdoor multi-activity gym. With the school budget coming under increasing pressure, the work of the Friends of SJL is more important than ever.

Building community by working together

Friends of SJL involves all sectors of the school community (parents, guardians, families, staff, governors, students and alumni) in the act of raising funds to improve the school and in doing so, helps build a genuine sense of community.

“SJL staff, students, parents and governors all play their part and it is this ‘team effort’ that helps us achieve such high standards. One of the key parts of this team is the Friends of Sir John Lawes School. I would urge all parents to consider getting involved with their work and to support their social, fundraising events.”

Claire Robins OBE - CEO Scholars' Education Trust
