Meet the staff

Head of Sixth Form: Ms S Calverley

As Head of Sixth Form, Ms Calverley has overall responsibility for the academic and pastoral wellbeing of our students. Sara has 20 years experience of supporting students in preparing for life beyond KS5, and has been both a curriculum and pastoral leader in 4 outstanding schools, both in the UK and internationally. In addition to her role as Head of Sixth Form, she also teaches Sociology and Psychology A Level and delivers the EPQ qualification. Sara is also a qualified mental health first aider.  Sara lives in Harpenden and has two children. 

 

Assistant Head of Sixth Form: Mr D Thompson

As Assistant Head of Sixth Form, Mr Thompson is primarily responsible for Year 12. Dan has been a member of the Sixth Form leadership team for many years and has extensive knowledge of UCAS and career opportunities. In addition to this he is the Enterprise Education Coordinator and runs the successful Young Enterprise and Dragons’ Apprentice competitions. He teaches Business and Economics at KS5.  

 

Sixth Form Careers and Personal Development: Mr Gilfeather 

Mr Gilfeather leads the Sociology faculty as well as Personal Development throughout the Sixth form and Careers for the whole school. Tom is a big believer in getting all young people ‘application ready’ so they choose the right next steps into the exciting and ever changing landscape of further education and employment. 

 

 

Sixth Form Manager: Mrs P Akhtar

As Sixth Form Manager, Mrs Akhtar has pastoral responsibility for both Year 12 and Year 13 students and supports the Head and Assistant Head of Sixth Form. With over 20 years of experience in management and working with young people in pastoral roles, she is highly involved with the UCAS process and developing enrichment opportunities for our students.
